National atlas of Sweden Kartografiskt material, Västra Götaland

A Regional Atlas Topic wise the emphasis lies on Västra Götaland of today. Population, employment, the infrastructure, commuting and the like are described in detail, including comparisons between the various municipalities. Industrial life is dealt with industry by indust ry. Göteborg, Sjuhärad, Falbygden, Slätten, Dalsland and Bohuslän each have their own chapter. We depict important historical events like the building of medieval churches, the greatpower era of the 17'th century and the revolutionary land reforms of the 18'th and 19'th centuries. One chapter is devoted to the 20'th century when social and economic conditions changed dramatically – from a peasant farmer society to an industrial and knowledge society, from a local community to a large city. The major environmental issues are also pre sented. This is the first book about Västra Götaland to describe in collected form the county's geography. More than 50 authors have contributed with their expert knowledge.
